TMBA Visits Foxconn: Exploring the Future of AI and Smart Manufacturing
Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA) organized a company visit on June 2, led by Chairman Shen-Teng Chen and joined by TMBA directors and supervisors, to Foxconn Technology Group for an in-depth exchange. The visit aimed to gain a deeper understanding of Foxconn’s achievements and practical applications in AI, smart manufacturing, and electric vehicles.
During the visit, the Foxconn team shared its “3+3+3 = ∞” development strategy, which focuses on three future industries—electric vehicles, robotics, and digital health—as well as three core technologies: AI, semiconductors, and next-generation communications. Through the integration of industries and technologies, Foxconn is building a highly competitive smart manufacturing ecosystem.
In the area of smart manufacturing, Foxconn explained that it has actively introduced technologies such as Generative AI (GenAI), Agentic AI, and Digital Twin in recent years, driving manufacturing sites from traditional automation toward autonomous decision-making. By integrating equipment data, simulating production processes, and optimizing decision-making mechanisms, these efforts not only improve production efficiency but also strengthen real-time responsiveness on the shop floor.
In addition, Foxconn shared several smart manufacturing application achievements, among which the “CNC360” project drew particular attention. The system analyzes and optimizes machining data from more than 150,000 CNC machines within the Group. Without changing machining programs, it improves machining efficiency through parameter optimization, demonstrating the practical benefits created by combining AI technologies with machine tool application scenarios. Other examples, including intelligent machine setup, smart scheduling, failure analysis, and mold design, also showcased the progress AI has enabled in helping the manufacturing industry improve quality and efficiency.
During the exchange, both sides shared views on topics including the digital transformation of the machine tool industry, the transfer of expert know-how and experience, AI applications, and net-zero sustainability. TMBA directors and supervisors noted that, amid the wave of industrial digitalization and intelligent transformation, digitalizing the expertise of experienced technicians and accelerating the practical implementation of AI technologies have become key issues for industrial upgrading. Foxconn’s extensive manufacturing sites and practical experience also provide valuable references for the future development of the machine tool industry.
In addition to visiting the smart manufacturing exhibition space and electric vehicle showroom, the visit also deepened opportunities for industrial chain collaboration through face-to-face exchanges.
