"Starting with enterprises, ensuring the power of kindness resonates throughout the year."

Since its inception, the TMBA Corporate Volunteer Alliance, established by the Social Responsibility (S) Committee of the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association, has consistently encouraged member companies to engage in diverse social welfare activities. In the first half (1H) of 2025, the Alliance demonstrated the proactive role of enterprises in fostering social prosperity through direct participation, donations, and resource integration. The results from the first half of the year have been fruitful, spanning areas such as care for the underprivileged, support for women, youth education, and environmental sustainability, showcasing the diverse possibilities of CSR in practice.

At the beginning of the year, TMBA published the 2025 Volunteer Alliance Event Calendar. This allowed member companies to stay informed about upcoming themes and schedules, encouraging active participation and facilitating internal resource planning.

Q1: Bringing Warmth to Remote Communities

In the first quarter, the Alliance partnered with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) Hualien Center for the "Spreading Love for the New Year" meal kit program. This initiative aimed to help vulnerable families in the Hualien-Taitung area enjoy a warm Lunar New Year. A total of NT$210,000 was raised: NT$90,000 was contributed by eight member companies and one individual, while TMBA led by example by donating an additional NT$120,000. Together, they provided 210 New Year meal kits, delivering warmth and hope to families in remote areas during the festive season.

Q2: Empowering Women and Families

The second quarter featured a collaboration with The Garden of Hope Foundation for the "One More Mile" charity campaign. This initiative supports the recovery and self-reliance of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing emergency shelter, legal aid, childcare, and—most critically—employment and economic reconstruction services.

The Garden of Hope accompanies over 20,000 women and children annually as they heal from trauma. Aligning with this mission, the TMBA Volunteer Alliance raised a total of NT$180,000 through awareness campaigns and donations. By investing in these families, the Alliance ensures that philanthropy is more than just a slogan; it is a concrete action that changes lives and promotes social sustainability.

Hands-on Volunteering: Environment and Elderly Care

In terms of physical volunteering, the Alliance participated in two major events:

  • April 19 – Beach Cleanup: Responding to the Bliss and Wisdom Foundation’s corporate ocean cleanup initiative, 17 TMBA volunteers joined nearly 700 participants to clear the coastline. The team collected 800 kg of waste, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

  • June 7 – Elderly Sports Meet: The Alliance supported the Huashan Social Welfare Foundation’s "Love the Elderly Sports Meet." Eight volunteers assisted seniors with warm-up exercises and fun games. Through companionship and interaction, the volunteers provided warmth and respect to the elderly while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges of geriatric care.

Youth Education: Bridging Industry and Academia

To promote career exploration among youth, TMBA continued to organize corporate visits for students. By mid-May, six matching sessions had been completed, including:

  • March 27: Yinsh Precision hosted Puli Junior High School.

  • April 18: YCM (Yeong Chin Machinery) hosted Shalu Junior High School.

  • April 25: YCM hosted Shengang Junior High School.

These visits included factory tours, introductions to manufacturing processes, and experience sharing from professionals. These activities help students gain early exposure to industrial environments, broadening their career horizons and fostering industry-academia exchange. Several more sessions are scheduled for the second half of the year.
