JP Market | Monthly Machine Tool Orders (November 2025)
The total value of machine tool orders in November was 137.01 billion yen.
This decreased 4.5% compared to October 2025 and marked the first month of month-on-month decline in three months.
However, this figure represented an increase of 14.8% compared to the same month of the previous year and marked the fifth consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
It was the ninth consecutive month that the total amount exceeded 120 billion yen, and this was the fifth consecutive month of month-on-month growth compared to the same month last year.
As in the previous month, orders for machine tools in November were generally favorable, driven by growth in foreign orders. As for the outlook for orders, as the international situation seeks to stabilize, orders are generally strong but also show cautious movements, and we hope for an increase in demand towards the end of the period.
Domestic orders fell by 10.4% from October to 31.99 billion yen. Moreover, this figure showed a decrease of 6.8% from the same month of the previous year. They fell below 35 billion yen for the first time in three months, showing sluggish performance.
Looking at major industries, orders compared to October fell by 10.3% in industrial machinery, by 18.2% in motor vehicles, by 11.8% in electrical & precision machinery, and rose by 74.2% in aircraft, shipbuilding & transport equipment.
Foreign orders fell by 2.5% from October to 105.02 billion yen, marking the first month of month-on-month decline in three months.
Nevertheless, foreign orders showed an increase of 23.6% over the same month of the previous year, and this marked the fourteenth consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
Foreign orders remain strong, exceeding 80 billion yen for the 15th consecutive month.
By region, orders from Asia rose by 5.4% over October to 54.30 billion yen.
This increased 27.9% over the same month of the previous year. Orders from Europe fell by 10.2% from October to 18.14 billion yen.
This was an increase of 25.8% over the same month of the previous year.
Orders from North America fell by 12.3% from October, amounting to 29.42 billion yen. This figure showed an increase of 12.1% over the same month of the previous year.
