Metaltech 2025 Grand Opening: Taiwanese Manufacturers Showcase Strength in the Malaysian Market
The 29th Malaysia International Machine Tools, Metalworking and Automation Technology Exhibition (Metaltech 2025) was held from May 14 to 17 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The event attracted 22,963 professional buyers and visitors from around the world, highlighting the robust demand for manufacturing upgrades and equipment renewal in the region.
This year’s exhibition featured 464 exhibitors from 16 countries, covering a total exhibition area of 25,000 square meters. Taiwan, South Korea, and Germany showcased their industrial prowess through national pavilions, while China and Singapore also participated with group delegations, underscoring the high priority the Asian market places on high-end manufacturing equipment.
The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA) continued its active involvement by leading a delegation of six Taiwanese companies. These exhibitors were strategically located across the first and second floors of MITEC:
-
Hall 2 (1st Floor): Evermore Machine, Tongsheng Abrasive, Lotus Innovation, and Yi Chang Industrial.
-
Hall 7 (2nd Floor): Rishun and Ju Wei Technology, showcasing precision components. Additionally, several other Taiwanese brands expanded their footprint in the Malaysian market by participating through local agents or branch offices.
On May 16, Zhang Yuan-zhi, Director of the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, and Senior First Secretary Zhu Yun-xiang, accompanied by Peng Xiang-yin, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, visited the exhibition. Guided by TMBA staff, they met with Taiwanese exhibitors to understand current marketing trends and discuss opportunities for further industrial cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia.
According to data from the Global Trade Atlas, Taiwan remains one of Malaysia's primary sources for machine tool imports. In 2024, Malaysian imports were dominated by forging and stamping machines. From January to April 2025, Malaysia rose to 10th place among Taiwan's machine tool export markets, with import values reaching US$11.84 million, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.5%. As Malaysia aggressively promotes its "Industry 4.0" policy, the demand for smart manufacturing equipment and machine tools is expected to remain high, signaling promising future business opportunities for Taiwanese manufacturers.
