Small Components, Big Impact: TMBA Visits Ying Hsi Smart Factory
Digitalization and decarbonization are the key trends driving transformation in the machine tool industry. These goals are actively promoted by various committees of the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA). To observe the achievements of SMEs in this area, the TMBA Secretariat visited member company Ying Hsi Precision Industrial Co., Ltd. on July 18. Through a presentation by HR Manager Chang Yi-Ching and a factory tour led by Executive Vice President Wu You-Chieh, participants gained insights into Ying Hsi’s path to success.
Ying Hsi Precision Industrial is dedicated to the research and manufacturing of precision nuts, striving for high speed, high accuracy, high quality, high professionalism, and high service standards. In 2014, the company established its own verification laboratory—the “Precision Nut Testing Laboratory”—which earned accreditation from the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF). This made Ying Hsi the first and only company worldwide to set up a national-level testing lab specifically for precision nut products.
Before transformation, Ying Hsi focused on confirming its positioning, avoiding unrealistic ambitions while maintaining flexibility. By creating supply through demand, developing business models, and building its brand, the company implemented smart manufacturing and intelligent machinery. Its CRM system classifies customers by type and engagement level, providing tailored strategies—an example of service-oriented manufacturing. Transitioning from manufacturing to manufacturing services, Ying Hsi strengthened its expertise and core technologies through internal development and collaborations with institutions, consultants, and academia.
Digital optimization enables rapid conversion of data into visualized management reports. For example, the packing simulation system helps forecast work schedules, while sales statistics support marketing strategy planning. The self-developed drawing work-hour system accurately reflects work status and outcomes, reinforcing employees’ sense of value. On-site automation and integration (such as 2-machine-1-robot or 3-machine-1-robot configurations) improve production efficiency and reduce labor needs, while paving the way for recruiting high-level R&D talent.
Ying Hsi also places great emphasis on corporate social responsibility. The company organizes volunteer activities annually and maintains long-term academic-industry collaborations, including scholarship programs. As TMBA’s Executive Director, Wu You-Chieh has led multiple member companies in public welfare initiatives since the establishment of the S Committee in 2023, fulfilling corporate responsibility and giving back to society.
