Taiwan Smart Machinery Value Transformation Forum: AI Leading the Future of Industry
Guided by the Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and organized by the Precision Machinery Research & Development Center, the “AI Implementation and International Cooperation Forum for Smart Machinery Value Transformation” was grandly held on August 16 at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Taichung. The forum invited top domestic and international experts in smart machinery and AI technology applications, industry leaders, and academic elites to jointly explore cutting-edge topics on smart machinery value transformation.
Professor Li Jie delivered a keynote speech on the application of industrial AI in smart manufacturing. He shared his extensive experience, including assisting Japan’s leading machine tool manufacturer MAZAK in developing health prediction systems and helping Toyota implement predictive maintenance technology to achieve Zero Downtime. Over the years, he has successfully applied AI technology in global leading enterprises. Using Tesla as an example, Professor Li generously shared how AI can enhance production efficiency, optimize manufacturing processes, and presented concrete case studies.
Dr. Hsiao Jen-Chung, Technical Director of the Precision Machinery Research & Development Center, analyzed the TSM-AI international cooperation framework in depth, providing insights to help enterprises achieve smoother transformation. Dr. Hsiao emphasized that when transitioning into the smart machinery industry, in addition to the highly discussed topics of intelligence (AI) and cyber-physical integration (DX), companies should also implement green transformation (GX). By integrating resources, reducing carbon emissions and footprints, and improving productivity and efficiency, businesses can achieve the ultimate goal of sustainable green transformation.
Beyond academic insights and successful AI applications shared by industry leaders, another highlight of the forum was the panel discussion titled “Activating the AI Smart Manufacturing Engine to Achieve Industrial Value Transformation: From Concept to Implementation.” The panel featured Professor Li Jie, Mr. Chang Chin-Feng, Chairman of Davro Co., Ltd., and Mr. Chen Po-Chia, Chairman of the Machine Tool Association and General Manager of YCM. Through dialogue and exchange, they explored how AI technology can drive innovative development in smart machinery and spark a new wave of technological breakthroughs and cooperation opportunities. This forum envisions Taiwan’s journey from academic research to practical application, unlocking value transformation for industrial upgrading through AI.
