Indonesia’s largest exhibition, with over 30 years of history and the only one certified by UFI, the 32nd Manufacturing & Machine Tool Indonesia 2023—organized by PT. Pamerindo Indonesia (Informa Group)—was grandly held on December 4, 2023, at the Jakarta International Expo Center, attracting 33,912 professional buyers.

Indonesia boasts a vast domestic market and is the largest economy in ASEAN. This exhibition ranks among Southeast Asia’s top three major trade shows and has long been highly regarded by the machine tool industry, consistently leading in the number of participating countries. In 2023, the event expanded to four halls, with a significantly larger exhibition area than previous years. Exhibitors from 31 countries and regions actively invested in tapping into this emerging market. The theme of this year’s exhibition was “Your Industrial Solution Event for Manufacturing Industry”, aiming to promote “Society 5.0” through the integration of advanced technology and human resources to foster sustainable industry development.

The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), along with two other associations, organized group participation, bringing together more than 50 Taiwanese companies occupying nearly 1,170 square meters of booth space. TMBA featured 15 companies—HIWIN, Aritex, YLM, Rong Tian, Yumen, MATS, An Yang, Ri Rui, Li Xiang, An Liang, Sision, He Gang, Han Kun, New Tiger, and Xu Dong—showcasing machine tools, components, cutting tools, and other related accessories. TMBA had the largest number of booths among the three groups. On the morning of December 6, officials from the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, including Section Chief Lu Fengjing, Secretary Luo Kexin, and Assistant Lin Jialing, visited the venue to engage with exhibitors and discuss the sales performance of Taiwanese products in the Indonesian market.

Indonesia, as the largest market among ASEAN countries, holds an undeniable strategic position. Despite global uncertainties, strong domestic demand continues to support growth, and many economists believe Indonesia’s economic outlook remains promising. The 2023 exhibition spanned Halls A, B, C, and D, with a scale surpassing last year and crowds returning to previous levels of enthusiasm. TMBA’s Taiwan Pavilion incorporated industry image promotion and adopted the color scheme of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Smart Machinery Overseas Promotion Program, creating a unified image for Taiwanese machine tool exhibitors. This eye-catching design not only earned praise from domestic exhibitors but also left a strong impression on international buyers.

Taiwan ranks among Indonesia’s top three suppliers of machine tools. Given the anticipated continued economic growth and Indonesia’s lack of industrial infrastructure—requiring imports of machine tools and most components—the country remains a key overseas market for Taiwanese businesses. Many exhibitors expressed their intention to participate in the 2024 Indonesia show, maintaining an optimistic and proactive attitude toward the Indonesian market.
