Elimi Summer Gathering: TPI Showcases Benchmark Enterprise
Elimi’s summer gathering included a visit to Taiwan’s largest professional bearing manufacturer—TPI Bearings (Tong Pei Industrial). Established in 1967 through technical cooperation with Japan’s NTN Corporation, TPI launched its own brand in 1983, specializing in the development and production of precision ball bearings and related components. Since 1972, TPI has received numerous awards, including the National Quality Control Group Award, the CNS Mark, Industrial Benchmark recognition, Top 100 Brands, and the Taiwan Excellence Award.
People-Oriented, Driven by the Spirit of Continuous Challenge
Manager Peng Guo-Fang introduced TPI’s guiding principles: “Technological Leadership, Excellent Manufacturing, Customer Trust.” Building on a solid foundation, TPI relentlessly pursues innovation. From automated design and simulation-based manufacturing to analysis and verification, these processes significantly reduce human error, improve design efficiency, and ensure product precision and quality. Furthermore, TPI developed the TMES Smart Manufacturing System, which uses IoT for real-time production monitoring. A 100% online inspection system and a “war room” for real-time progress tracking help reduce defect rates, enhance quality, and ensure on-time delivery.
Beyond technical excellence, TPI is committed to ESG and sustainable development. The company has established a rigorous sustainability framework, mapped out a 30-year net-zero roadmap, and developed energy-saving, high-value-added products. TPI embodies a spirit of “coexistence and mutual prosperity” with its partners. Additionally, TPI actively engages in public welfare: since 2014, it has sponsored the Paper Windmill Theatre, focusing on two major initiatives—Children’s Art Project and Youth Anti-Drug Drama Project, prioritizing performances in rural schools. Since 2016, TPI has collaborated annually with the Wildlife Conservation Association on beach cleanups, treating environmental sustainability as a core mission.
The visit revealed meticulous attention to detail, reflecting TPI’s integration of lean management into every aspect. Section Chief Chen Ming-Jie personally oversaw everything from site inspections to full-day activities. Every step was rehearsed in advance, with precise timing and route planning, ensuring smooth tours without delays or bottlenecks. This demonstrated TPI’s customer-centric philosophy of “people first” and trust-building in action.
A Conversation Worth More Than Ten Years of Reading
The learning session featured Hao Xu-Lie, author of “Winning with Logical Thinking” and “Wealth Awareness”, and host of the podcast “Hao’s Voice.” Hao delivered an insightful analysis of the essence of logic, guiding participants to expand their thinking through three key principles: Awareness, Observation, and Insight—the “Three Cups of Good Sense”—to instill wealth-oriented thinking, uncover paths to prosperity, and create financial flow.
Hao structured his talk around three themes: “Expand Boundaries,” “Begin with the End in Mind,” and “Action is King.” Through relatable stories and profound philosophy, he transformed seemingly abstract concepts into clear, humorous, and engaging lessons, filling the room with laughter and moments of enlightenment. Hao emphasized the value of the unknown, stating that logic is the journey from not knowing to knowing—a process that makes us stronger and proud of our growth.
On “Expanding Boundaries,” Hao suggested not rushing to read recommended books but instead searching for them on YouTube. Listening to audiobooks is easier, and algorithms will later suggest related content, enabling passive yet effective knowledge expansion.
Regarding “Action is King,” Hao shared his podcast experience: when asked how he consistently produces episodes despite a packed schedule, he revealed his secret—no editing, saving significant time. Critics argued they lacked his eloquence, but Hao explained that his fluency was the result of producing over a hundred episodes. Each time he shared this story, listeners revisited his first episode to compare progress, making it the most-played episode ever.
Hao concluded with a powerful reminder: “You must remember it to use it, and use it for it to be useful.” His ability to embed profound thinking into a relaxed, natural atmosphere is the unique charm of Hao’s Voice.
