Organized by the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association and Tokyo Big Sight, the 32nd Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2024) was held from November 5 to November 10, spanning six days. This year’s exhibition featured 1,262 companies and 5,743 booths, surpassing JIMTOF 2022’s 1,087 companies and 5,618 booths, marking the largest scale in its history.

One of the highlights was the Additive Manufacturing (AM) Zone, with 53 participating companies. The zone showcased the “Next-Generation Industrial 3D Printing Technology Development” project led by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), presenting commercialized metal 3D printers with world-leading printing speed and precision, along with real-world applications.

JIMTOF in Tokyo is a major global manufacturing event, attracting professionals and enterprises worldwide. The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA) brought 69 member companies to exhibit—nearly double compared to 2022. Exhibitors included Tongtai, Taiwan Takisawa, Awea, Proth, Matrix Precision, YCM, Jiuh-Yeh, Joen Lih, keyarrow, Evermore, Hiwin, KINWA, PMI, Perfect Machine,  Palmary Machinery, YJF, I-Chuan, GSA, GIFU, Deta International, Yinsh, Habor Precision,WSMC, PARKSON, Di Chun Iron Work , HOSEA, AutoCam, and SYIC, among others. They showcased the latest technologies and services in smart manufacturing, automation, and high-precision machining.

Taiwanese exhibitors continued to focus on the theme “Dual-Axis Smart Manufacturing for a Sustainable Future”, presenting products tailored to Japanese market needs. The exhibits emphasized two core strategies: Digital Transformation (DX) and Green Transformation (GX), aligning with global industrial trends.

By integrating new technologies into smart production lines, energy-saving and carbon-reduction solutions, and AI applications, the machine tool industry demonstrated cutting-edge innovations. These advancements not only improve production efficiency and reduce costs but also achieve environmentally friendly manufacturing goals. TMBA stated that “Dual-Axis Smart Manufacturing” is the key to the industry’s future development. Combining DX and GX provides customers with more competitive solutions while contributing to global sustainability.

TMBA Chairman Patrick Chen noted that Taiwan’s machine tool and key component manufacturers have recently launched highly competitive products in smart manufacturing and energy-saving solutions, suitable for high-end process applications, drawing significant attention at the show.
