EMO 2025 Showcases Taiwan’s New Strength in Smart Manufacturing

During EMO Hannover 2025, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA) co-hosted the press conference “AI × Taiwan Machine Tools: Shaping the Future” at the Taiwan Pavilion, attracting strong attention from international media and industry stakeholders. TMBA Chairman Chen Shenteng declared: “Taiwan positions itself as the global manufacturing sector’s ‘preferred AI integration partner.’”

From Precision to Intelligence: Industry Transformation

Chairman Chen emphasized that in an era of increasing technical talent shortages and rising manufacturing demands, the industry’s focus has shifted from “How precise is the machine tool?” to “How smart is it?” This transition presents a prime opportunity for Taiwan’s machine tool industry to shine.

Three Core Advantages Driving Global Smart Manufacturing:

  • Flexible Manufacturing: Taiwan’s highly skilled and agile industrial network can co-create customized AI solutions with clients. This enables companies to move beyond equipment sales, offering tailored smart manufacturing systems for small, medium, and large enterprises.

  • Open Integration Platforms: TMBA is building an AI Knowledge Integration Platform, consolidating smart manufacturing insights to help factories adopt digital transformation efficiently. “Our goal isn’t to replace old factories but to make them smarter,” Chairman Chen notes.

  • Collaborative Ecosystem: Taiwan’s unique strength lies in integrating top-tier IT and semiconductor resources, rapidly converting production data into actionable outcomes. From sensors and controllers to cloud computing, the complete industrial chain is locally accessible—an advantage difficult to replicate elsewhere.

TMTS 2026: Innovative “Showroom-to-Factory” Exhibition

TMBA will host TMTS 2026 Taiwan International Machine Tool Show in Taichung from March 25–28, with the theme “AI-Powered, Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing.” The show introduces a “front-showroom, back-factory” model, allowing visitors to experience technologies on-site and then visit factories to see real production applications, demonstrating Taiwan’s “see-it-to-believe-it” credibility and strength.

Taichung, the heart of Taiwan’s machine tool industry, offers international buyers the full spectrum of R&D, manufacturing, and application in a concentrated area, highlighting the complete Taiwanese ecosystem.

Taiwan’s Position: The World’s Best AI Integration Partner

Chairman Chen positions Taiwan as: “If Germany represents precision and Japan automation, Taiwan is the global manufacturing sector’s best AI integration partner.” Rather than competing purely on precision or automation, Taiwan leverages flexibility, integration, and collaboration to deliver optimal smart manufacturing solutions worldwide.

Through innovative business models and strong technological integration, Taiwan is establishing a new competitive paradigm—not just as an equipment supplier but as a long-term partner supporting clients’ digital transformation and growth.

Looking Ahead: A New Era of Smart Manufacturing

TMTS 2026 will serve as a vital window for the global manufacturing sector to observe Taiwan’s smart machine tool ecosystem, showcasing flexible manufacturing, open integration, and collaborative synergy. It provides a leading example for global industries embracing smart transformation.

Global partners are invited to Taichung in March 2026 to experience Taiwan’s innovative machine tool capabilities and co-create the next era of smart manufacturing.
