AI and Robotics Become Key Drivers of Smart Manufacturing Upgrades
As AI, robotics, and automation technologies are rapidly being introduced into manufacturing sites, smart manufacturing has become a key driver of industrial upgrading and production transformation. Under the guidance of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Institute for Information Industry (III), the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), and the Smart Machinery Industry Promotion Office jointly organized the “AI × Robot Smart Manufacturing Total Solution Observation Workshop” during the Taipei International Industrial Automation Exhibition. Combining guided exhibition tours with visits to selected booths, the workshop enabled manufacturers and industry professionals to explore real-world application scenarios and observe how AI technologies connect robots, automation equipment, sensing systems, and manufacturing data. These technologies can further be applied to improving production efficiency, optimizing processes, enhancing quality management, and meeting the needs of unmanned production on the shop floor.
Exhibition Tour Focuses on Integrated Smart Automation Solutions
The workshop included visits to representative smart automation and robotics solution providers at the exhibition, including KUKA Taiwan Co., Ltd., Kenmec Mechanical Engineering Co., Ltd., SOLOMON Technology Corporation, HIWIN Technologies Corp., Gallant Precision Machining Co., Ltd., Tien Chin Yu Machinery Mfg. Co., Ltd., KEYENCE Taiwan Co., Ltd., and others. Each stop focused on different manufacturing application scenarios and showcased technologies such as robot collaboration, automation integration, AI-powered data analytics, smart inspection, and turnkey production line solutions. Through these on-site cases, participants gained a deeper understanding of how individual equipment, software systems, and production line management can be integrated, while also gaining insights into the development path of smart manufacturing from technology demonstration to industrial application.
Exchanging Practical Insights to Advance Manufacturing Digital Transformation
Through on-site observation and exchanges, participants not only explored new technology demonstrations but also discussed practical issues such as implementation costs, integration with existing equipment, talent development, and how small and medium-sized enterprises can gradually implement smart manufacturing. The event reflected the manufacturing sector’s strong interest in AI empowerment, automation upgrades, and production line resilience, while also highlighted the importance of cross-domain integration in the future transformation of manufacturing. As smart machinery, robotics, and data applications continue to advance, similar observation and technical exchange activities will help promote experience sharing across industries and support Taiwan’s manufacturing sector in moving toward digital transformation and higher-value upgrading.
