Excellent Award - CHUAN HSIN Precision Industrial

CHUAN HSIN Precision Industrial Co., Ltd. won the Excellent Award in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its GTR-1215 Hydrostatic Vertical Wafer Grinding Machine for Semiconductor (as shown in Figure 1). Since entering the semiconductor market in 2019, the company has developed a product line that includes external cylindrical grinders and rotary surface grinders, all with a proven track record with semiconductor clients.

The company's proprietary hydrostatic bearing technology, developed over many years, features self-developed and self-manufactured hydrostatic core components—including the hydrostatic spindle, hydrostatic guideway, and hydrostatic rotary worktable. These components boast zero bearing wear, high damping, and vibration-suppression characteristics. This technology meets the stringent requirements for high-precision grinding of hard and brittle materials like silicon carbide (SiC) in the semiconductor industry. The GTR-1215 is aggressively targeting wafer manufacturing and advanced packaging fields, specifically aiming at the thinning and grinding of third-generation SiC wafers and other hard and brittle materials. CHUAN HSIN’s unique hydrostatic bearing technology, employing an advanced hydrostatic lubrication/cooling system and flow controller, maintains grinding quality, stabilizes pressure, and improves feed and positioning accuracy. Honorable Mention - EXCETEK Technologies

EXCETEK Technologies Co., Ltd. won an Honorable Mention in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its NP600Plus Energy-Saving and Smart Linear Motor Wire Cut EDM (as shown in Figure 2). This product also won the Excellent Award in the Eco-friendly, Smart Product Innovation Award (All Entries) category.

To meet the global manufacturing shift toward smart and green transformation, especially the increasingly strict carbon emission and energy-saving requirements in European and American markets, EXCETEK launched the NP600plus smart, high-precision linear motor Wire Cut EDM. This machine is specifically designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, complies with the ISO 14955 international environmental certification, and helps companies reduce their carbon tax burden and enhance market competitiveness. It offers specialized discharge technology and jet control for processing materials like semiconductor wafers, creating more opportunities for customers. Variable Discharge Current Module for Wafer Processing: The new technology uses T-shaped wave discharge technology (Patent I839195), which significantly increases the cutting speed of wafers by 50% and effectively reduces thermal damage and cracking, improving wafer integrity. CHMER Industrial Co., Ltd. won an Honorable Mention in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its UA432L Green Energy All-in-One Linear Motor Driven Wire Cut EDM (as shown in Figure 3). This product also won an Honorable Mention in the Eco-friendly, Smart Product Innovation Award (All Entries) category. The UA432L controller integrates CHMER's proprietary GenOS system with EtherCAT automatic control technology to achieve high-speed response and highly expandable multi-axis synchronous motion control. It supports the IL instruction syntax compliant with the international industrial control standard IEC61131-3, allowing for direct online modification of machine programs and IO point settings, improving system operational convenience. The controller features a built-in Database function to store machining parameters and data, enabling real-time information access and achieving smart manufacturing goals. It supports OPC UA Server for machine and factory information integration, enhancing the real-time processing and sharing of data. The iConnected system displays the machine's operating status, machining images, and utilization rate in real-time. Honorable Mention - HOHO Machine Industry

HOHO Machine Industry Co., Ltd. won an Honorable Mention in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its Laser Tube Cutting Machine (10-Axis) + Tube End Chamfering and Deburring (SLT-80-FIBER Cell) (as shown in Figure 4). Addressing the need for deburring after laser tube cutting, this integrated cell combines laser processing + tube end chamfering (or wire brush deburring) into a continuous automated operation, even extending to final stacking and packaging. Users only need to set the tube diameter, and the entire machine positions itself automatically without manual adjustment. For Energy-Saving Technology, it reduces waste material by 40%, achieving green production. The laser tube cutter employs the most advanced breakpoint continuation and optimal nesting technology to minimize waste material to just 60mm.

The development of the SLT-80-FIBER laser machine targets this market gap, offering customers low initial investment, high efficiency, simple operation, low maintenance costs, and high Cost-Performance Ratio (CPR). Excellent Award - HIWIN Technologies

HIWIN Technologies Corp. won the Excellent Award in the Component for CNC Machine Tool category for its RCH-100E High-Speed EDM Milling Head (as shown in Figure 5). HIWIN's R&D efforts led to the creation of the High-Speed EDM Milling Head (RCH-100E), pioneering the innovative "EDM Milling" technology. This technology aims to solve the bottlenecks faced by traditional Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), not only boosting processing speed but also effectively reducing electrode consumption frequency, thereby shortening processing time and ensuring the precision of the processed part. Through this technology, HIWIN hopes to help customers enhance market competitiveness and achieve sustainable development.

The RCH-100E High-Speed EDM Milling Head is an industry first—a high-speed precision milling complex direct-drive rotary worktable designed specifically for high-end EDM. It features multi-functional indexing, simultaneous movement, and spindle capabilities, offering an excellent solution for the production of precision, high-hardness components in aerospace, semiconductor, and automotive industries. The innovative value-added solution integrates torque motor direct-drive technology, achieving three times the precision of traditional mechanical systems, with a speed of up to 300 rpm, which is 15 times that of mechanical EDM C-axes. Honorable Mention - HAN-TING Intelligent Technology

HAN-TING Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. won an Honorable Mention in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its UTD30 Non-Contact Power Transmission High-Speed Spindle. By developing the non-contact power transmission high-speed spindle, the non-contact power supply module can be integrated into the spindle design without changing the spindle's external dimensions. This compatibility with existing spindle products allows the high-speed spindle to not only provide machining capability but also to perform real-time monitoring of the machining status and workpiece quality.

Honorable Mention - TAIWAN CHELIC

TAIWAN CHELIC CO., LTD. won an Honorable Mention in the Other CNC Machine Tool and Manufacturing Cell category for its KA-WTS Smart Energy-Saving Cutting Fluid Tank (as shown in Figure 7). In light of the "2030 Sustainable Development Goals" and the ISO 14955 series of international standards for "Energy consumption measurement and design improvement standards for machine tools," TAIWAN CHELIC developed the "Smart Energy-Saving Cutting Fluid Tank" with three main focuses—smart connectivity, environmental protection and energy saving, and powerful antibacterial action—to address the green wave, helping machine tools reduce energy and resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

  1. Anti-Sludge Tank Design: 1.1 Comb-shaped Jet Nozzles: Uses sheet metal craftsmanship to create micro-jet nozzles at the bottom of the tank, creating a circulating water flow to reduce the proliferation of anaerobic bacteria. 1.2 Slanted Bottom: Applies the Coandă effect, causing the cutting fluid to flow close to the bottom, preventing chip sedimentation and eliminating anaerobic zones.

  2. UVC Anti-Bacterial Light: 2.1 Kinetic Energy Recovery: Uses the pipeline of a low-pressure pump to generate hydroelectric power during the day and stores the electrical energy. 2.2 UV Anti-Bacterial: Uses the stored battery power at night to activate a UV light (265nm wavelength) for antibacterial action.

Intelligence and Practicality: 1. AIoT Visual Diagnosis System: Real-time detection of data from various sensors and provides abnormal alarms. 2. Smart Connectivity: Uses MQTT and UMATI communication formats to transmit information on pump current, tank fluid level, cutting fluid pH value, and cutting fluid temperature to the machine tool's IPC computer, providing useful decision-making information to the user. Variable Frequency Energy-Saving Chip Flushing: Given that the cutting fluid demand differs for roughing and finishing, machine tools traditionally use mechanical valves for user control, while the supply pump still runs at 100% full speed, resulting in energy waste. Cutting Fluid Recycling from Chip Cart: Applies the Venturi effect, using compressed air to create vacuum suction to draw the cutting fluid from the bottom of the chip cart back into the tank. The equipment uses a pressure sensor and an inverter for intelligent PID constant pressure control. When the demand for coolant decreases, the speed automatically reduces to save energy, achieving an annual reduction of about 20% in carbon emissions. Given the future trend of machine tools moving toward intelligence, energy saving, and other directions, the Smart Energy-Saving Cutting Fluid Tank can provide value-added services in this area and is also suitable for various metal-cutting machine tools.

All entries in this year's competition, whether winning an award or not, are high-quality products meticulously designed, researched, and manufactured by each company. In response to the rapidly changing international landscape, modular design and production are issues that cannot be ignored. Naturally, the recently debated issues of carbon credits and carbon taxes are challenges that all industries and companies must confront. Our machine tool and component industry is export-oriented and revered as the "Mother of Industry." The two major issues mentioned above present a significant challenge. Over the past two competitions, we have seen many entries already strategically addressing these challenges. We look forward to each company producing more machine tool masterpieces that align with international trends and user needs.
