TMBA "Energy Label Award Ceremony" and Cross-Industry Application Process Requirements Exchange Forum
The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA) held the Machine Tool "Energy Label Award Ceremony and Cross-Industry Application Process Requirements Exchange Forum" on January 10th. The event honored the recipients of the 1st and 2nd Green Energy Labels for machine tools and component products.
In addition to commending companies for their commitment to green and energy-saving technology, the event also included a briefing by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Industrial Development Administration (IDA) on key government R&D and subsidy programs for 2025. The goal is to leverage government resources and industry capacity to meet customized application needs across various industries and processes, collectively building a cross-industry green ecosystem.
Cross-Industry Exchange Forum Attracts Distinguished Guests to Build a Green Ecosystem
The event brought together representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutions, including: IDA Director-General Chih-Ching Yang, Taishin Financial Holdings Independent Director Mei-Hua Wang, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) CEO Yong-Hsiang Lai, Precision Machinery Research and Development Center (PMC) Executive Vice President (acting CEO) Chien-Hsun Lee, National Federation of Industries (NFI) Deputy Secretary-General Hong-Wen Chen, Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robot Association (TAIROA) Chairman Kuo-Yi Sze, and representatives from 10 machine tool industry chain associations. The atmosphere was vibrant and grand.
IDA Director-General Chih-Ching Yang acknowledged the TMBA's success in promoting the green transformation of the machine tool industry. He elaborated that the government will actively assist the machine tool sector in adopting AI applications, accelerating the industry's smart and low-carbon upgrading and transformation, supporting companies in developing domestic controllers, and guiding machine tool manufacturers to penetrate diverse process application markets in terminal industries, such as the semiconductor sector.
TMBA Chairman Po-Chia Chen expressed his gratitude for the Director-General's strong support and assistance. He noted that the Association, through its dedicated "E Committee," has been comprehensively promoting a green supply chain for machine tools. This effort includes offering various carbon reduction courses, training incumbent employees to become corporate green transformation "seed instructors," and proactively launching the Product Category Rules (PCR) for six major machine tool product types starting in 2023. TMBA is also actively connecting with international associations to enhance the visibility of Taiwan's industrial green transformation.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Association will continue its existing green transformation work and initiate the establishment of a carbon management platform. Adopting an "end-to-end" approach, the platform will gradually implement the completed machine tool PCRs, supplemented by digital tools to drive the development of the cross-industry ecosystem. This includes a carbon emission factor database, a carbon footprint module, and an export inventory module to comply with domestic and international regulations, calculate carbon taxes and fees, and practically assist member companies in solving carbon management challenges.
