Eric Y. T. Chuo, Founder and Group President of HIWIN Technologies, received the Global Views Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to innovation, smart manufacturing, and talent development. As Chairman of TMBA during its second and third terms and now Honorary Chairman, he strengthened supply chain collaboration and industry–academia partnerships. His leadership helped establish HIWIN as an international brand built on proprietary technology. Through academic awards and sustained investment in engineering education, he has connected research with manufacturing needs. His achievements demonstrate how business growth, industry cooperation, and talent cultivation jointly strengthen the global competitiveness of Taiwan’s precision manufacturing sector.
TMBA continues to connect member companies with campus resources to promote student workplace visits and help young learners better understand the machine tool industry and real workplace environments. With the support of YINSH Precision Industrial Co., Ltd. and Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co., Ltd., students joined production-line tours, process briefings, and workplace experience sharing to gain first-hand insights into precision manufacturing, smart production, and industry talent needs. As of September 2026, six company visits had been completed, bringing a total of 209 students into industrial sites.
Organized by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), the Smart Machinery Hands-on Experience Camp brought industry-grade equipment, software, and instructors to National Hualien Industrial Vocational Senior High School. Students from Hualien and Taitung gained hands-on experience with CAD/CAM, CNC lathes and milling machines, and robotic arms, transforming classroom knowledge into practical results. The program not only deepened their understanding of machine tools and smart manufacturing, but also inspired new career possibilities through industry-academia collaboration. By planting the seeds of technical confidence in eastern Taiwan, the camp helped nurture future talent for Taiwan’s smart machinery industry.
As global manufacturing accelerates toward smart, low-carbon, and high-value production, Taiwan’s machine tool industry stands at a critical turning point. While technological upgrades are essential, more and more companies realize that the true key to successful innovation and transformation lies not only in equipment and systems, but in the ability to continuously cultivate, retain, and accumulate critical talent.
