The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA) held its 6th Term, 3rd General Assembly on October 22, bringing together industry, government, and academia to discuss innovation and sustainability. Chairman Patrick Chen emphasized carbon emission management, digital transformation, and AI adoption, while fostering talent through academic collaboration to enhance product value. TMBA continues to promote Taiwan’s machine tool industry internationally via exhibitions, strengthen supply chain resilience, and drive cross-sector integration, aiming to boost global competitiveness for Taiwan’s machine tool sector.

The 10th Vietnam Hanoi International Machine Tool and Metalworking Equipment Exhibition opened on October 2, 2024, featuring 94 exhibitors from 14 countries, with overseas participants making up 66%. The event attracted 5,410 professional buyers. TMBA’s Taiwan Pavilion showcased 16 companies across 22 booths, presenting advanced precision machinery technologies and engaging with local associations. The pavilion drew significant attention from Vietnamese buyers, highlighting Taiwan’s competitiveness in the machine tool industry. Exhibitors expressed optimism about Vietnam’s market potential and called for government policy support to help Taiwanese firms seize emerging opportunities.

elimi’s autumn gathering featured bestselling author Eric, who shared the concept of “begin with the end in mind,” encouraging self-realization and positive influence through his 27-year journey. He inspired attendees to become the person they aspire to be. Additionally, Project Manager Chen Yu-Ting addressed global net-zero trends, explaining carbon footprint, regulations, and supply chain requirements. She offered strategies for emission reduction and reassured businesses about manageable steps. The government and industry alliances are actively promoting carbon neutrality through tools, training programs, and collaborative initiatives, helping companies transform while maintaining competitiveness.

In September, TMBA participated in SEMICON Taiwan, establishing the “TMBA SMART TEAM” zone to showcase machine tool solutions for the semiconductor industry. The government promotes transformation of machine tool manufacturers and hosted the opening of the “Localized Semiconductor Equipment Components Zone” to foster cross-industry collaboration. TMBA invited six member companies to exhibit advanced manufacturing and green solutions, aiming to enhance international engagement and strengthen Taiwan’s semiconductor supply chain resilience. This initiative positions TMBA as a key driver in leading the industry toward smarter and more sustainable development.

The AMB Stuttgart Metalworking Exhibition gathered 1,244 exhibitors worldwide, focusing on Industry 4.0, AI, automation, and energy efficiency. The Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association led 23 companies to showcase advanced technologies and customized solutions, aiming to strengthen their presence in the European market. Taiwanese machine tools account for about 20% of exports to Europe, mainly to Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. Through this event, Taiwan seeks to enhance global visibility and competitiveness in the international metalworking industry.

The “AI Implementation and International Cooperation Forum for Smart Machinery Value Transformation” was held on August 16 in Taichung, gathering experts to discuss AI applications in smart manufacturing. Professor Li Jie shared successful industrial AI cases, while Dr. Hsiao Jen-Chung emphasized the importance of intelligence, cyber-physical integration, and green transformation. A panel discussion further explored strategies for industrial upgrading and international collaboration, envisioning Taiwan’s future in driving smart machinery innovation through AI.
